| About The Author | Born in 1932, Ian Wooldridge is widely recognised as the greatest sports journalist of his generation. His career began at the New Milton Advertiser, but he quickly rose through the ranks to become a sports columnist at the Daily Mail in 1960, where he left an indelible mark with his astute, and often acerbic commentaries. Winner of many accolades throughout his life, he was presented with two awards for lifetime contribution to sports journalism, and an OBE for services to journalism in 1991. He died of cancer in 2007, leaving his widow Sarah, and three sons. |
'No one has ever written about sport in the English language as sublimely as did Ian Wooldridge for more than 40 years' Jeff Powell | |
| Other text | The most exhilarating sporting personalities and events of the past 40 years as seen through the eyes of the searingly honest, witty and pre-eminent journalist Ian Wooldridge. |
